The 4th National Indigenous Women’s Gathering

The NIWG 2017 has brought together more than 100 indigenous women from 31
indigenous communities from all over the Philippines.
Luzon- Aeta (Zambales), Ibaloy (Benguet), Kankana-ey (Benguet), Bontoc,
Kalanguya, Ilongot (Aurora), Hanunu-o Mangyan, Alangan Mangyan, Tagbanua
(Palawan), Dumagat (Quezon)
Visayas- Iraynon Bukidnon, Ati, Bukidnon
Mindanao – Agusan Manobo, Bukidnon, B’laan, T’boli, Higaonon, Manobo,
Teduray, Subanen, Kikinteken Menuvu, Erumanen Menuvu, Mamanwa, Dibaba-
won, Mandaya, Ata Manobo, Mansaka, Banwaon, Matigsalog

The support groups that gave assistance to the National Indigenous Women’s
Gathering 2017 were: Focus on the Global South, Alyansa Tigil Mina (ATM),
Coalition Against Trafficking of Women – Asia Pacific (CATW), Philippine Move-
ment for Climate Justice (PMCJ), AnthroWatch, iDefend, National Timber Forest
Movement (NTFP), Mindanao Peoples’ Peace Movement (MPPM). Legal Rights
and Natural Resources Centre (LRC-KsK), Balay Rehabilitation Centre, Philip-
pine Educational Theater Association (PETA). This year’s gathering was funded
by Caritas Sweden, Lush, Commission on Human Rights, and GIZ.
